Cricket Committee Terms of Reference

Vale CC Cricket Management Committee: Terms of Reference


  1. Purpose:


a. Reporting to the Board this committee will seek to ensure that the playing aspects of the clubs’ 2021 and Beyond vision which is:


To transform Vale Cricket Club into a centre of sporting excellence with cricket at the heart of the club. To be recognised as a first class sporting and leisure destination in the Vale of Glamorgan attracting and retaining sporting talent from the local community 


are delivered. The club has ambition to climb the senior leagues, continue to grow our senior & junior sections and to be a hub for women’s and girls’ cricket. In order to deliver this the club must offer a safe environment in which to play cricket, a structured coaching programme, ensure facilities are best in class and manage a range of cricket playing issues across the club.  


2. The Cricket Management Committee will be made up of:


All core members will be elected at annual cricket AGM


a. Core Membership


  • CMC Chairman (this position could be a separate individual or one of the existing core members 

  • 1st XI Captain 

  • 2nd XI Captain 

  • 3rd XI Captain 

  • Fixture Secretary 

  • CMC Secretary 

  • Junior Co-Ordinator 

  • Ladies & Girls Co-ordinator 

  • Welfare Officer 


b. Other Members


  • Club coach (if club has one) 

  • Member of Ground Team – as required by core committee 

  • Membership Secretary – as required by core committee 


3. Cricket Management Committee Procedures/Responsibilities;


a. The CMC will meet at the clubhouse in Corntown monthly during the playing season and twice in the close season. 


b. The CMC will be the focal point for discussing, planning and resolving any cricket related issues and make recommendations to the Leadership Team as and when required. 


c. The CMC will be responsibility for player recruitment and retention (Junior, senior and Ladies & girls). 


d. The CMC will support the development of a structured coaching programme for the senior, junior and lady players to ensure that the club’s overall coaching programme provides a structure that enables all players within the club to achieve their maximum playing potential. 


e. The CMC will ensure that appropriate opportunities for progression to play senior cricket are provided for all young players. 


f. The CMC will identify the necessary equipment required to improve cricketing standards within the club and present costed proposals to the Leadership Team. 


g. The CMC will establish a pathway for All Stars cricketers to ensure that boys and girls have a choice to play either hard or soft ball cricket at the club


h. Actions from meetings are to be recorded and will be published to all members for transparency. The minimum number of members to form a quorum for a meeting is 5. 


i. The CMC will have responsibility of the governance of all cricket sub committees i.e selection committee. 


j. CMC may co-opt members to committee on a temporary basis to support delivery of specific elements of cricket strategy initiatives.


4. Changes to Terms of Reference:


a. Any changes to these terms of reference will need to be agreed by the Board.
